Another first

Okay, so I’m not ready to recap the baby’s first birthday quite yet for many reasons.  The pictures aren’t uploaded, the emotions are still running high (my baby is turning into a kid!) and most importantly, the in-laws are still here.  But I had to take a couple of minutes here to relate another very important first in my life - or at least in my life since this little guy has arrived.  Are you ready for this?  Last night was the first time since giving birth to my son that I put on a regular bra.  (Actually, since before his birth because I’m pretty sure I had downgraded to some sort of a tanktop sometime during the pregnancy). This is significant because I stopped nursing when the baby was around 7 months old.  For the past year, I have been wearing these Medela Sleep Nursing Bras , which apparently are uniquely marketed as “sleep” nursing bras.  That didn’t deter me.  They were so comfortable that I took to wearing them all of the time and for a long time.  I really didn’t think much of it until I put on a regular bra last night as was like, “Oh yeah, this is what support feels like”.  Now, I did dabble in some Spanx products for a wedding I had to attend last July.  Specifically the Bra-llelujah and the Higher Power Panties.  A little something about that last item… I would advise against wearing it to a wedding taking place in Downtown Chicago in July at an old warehouse where there is no air conditioning and only two bathroom stalls.  I say this because the price of keeping your fat sucked in is apparently being REALLY HOT and once this thing is peeled off your body in order to go to the bathroom, it is pretty much impossible to get it back on.  I stood in that stall, with women waiting in a line out the door debating whether to pull it up as best I could, or take it off completely and wad it up into my purse.  I ended up trying to get it back on, but let’s face it, wearing a bunched up, sweaty, bike-short-like undergarment under your dress pants in 100 degrees really defeats the garment’s original purpose of smoothing and squeezing.  But anyway, I am way off point here.  The point is that besides that instance, I have been wearing the comfortable and very stretched-out old nursing bras.  For a year.

Love the blog. But this entry makes me a little uncomfortable. Yes, I have issues. P.S. I am still wearing mine and Mina is approaching her 16th month :)
